Bone Dry Plus Prevents Mold Growth with Antimicrobial Technology
Bone Dry Plus penetrating concrete sealer is a permanent sealer with added antimicrobial technology built into the product. The addition of antimicrobial protection into Bone Dry Plus prevents the growth of mold, mildew, and odor-causing bacteria in the pores of the concrete slab. Applying Bone Dry Plus to any new or existing concrete slab will create a chemical vapor barrier preventing moisture from surfacing, and the unique antimicrobial formula will guard against bacterial growth. This makes Bone Dry Plus a great solution for concrete basement floors where moisture is seeping through.
The Ultimate in Antimicrobial Protection and Penetrating Concrete Moisture Mitigation
Excess moisture in concrete is a top concern for contractors working on any major cement masonry project. New concrete requires a lengthy curing period to ensure it is completely dry, which can hold up the construction schedule for days. If steps toward moisture mitigation aren’t taken, adding any covering to a concrete slab becomes a liability.
Even existing concrete floors can have hidden moisture, which may damage flooring materials and coverings and lead to many problems:
- Expansion and contraction of damp floor coverings resulting in warping, cupping and peeling
- Adhesives can re-emulsify, allowing flooring materials to come unglued
- Mold and mildew may populate areas beneath non-permeable floor coverings
- Items in contact with bare concrete may become damp
Preparing the Concrete for Bone Dry Plus
Most epoxy-based moisture mitigation solutions require surface preparation. Water-based Bone Dry Plus, however, only requires shot blasting or surface grinding if there is an existing sealant or adhesive. Hard-troweled concrete will need to be etched using our Etch-A-Crete product to optimize the penetration of Bone Dry Plus.
All of our Bone Dry Products can be applied and spread using a common airless weed sprayer. As you apply the concrete sealer, some Bone Dry Plus may soak in quickly. If the amount you’ve sprayed soaks in within 15 minutes, a re-application is needed. Surfaces should be flushed or mopped with water 24 hours after application of Bone Dry Plus to remove foreign material and contaminants brought to the surface.
A five-gallon pail of Bone Dry Plus will cover approximately 1100ft2, depending on concrete porosity. Can be used for both indoor and outdoor surfaces.
Add Quick Dry to Bone Dry Plus for the Fastest Concrete Curing Time
The antimicrobial properties built into Bone Dry Plus make it a great option for concrete substrates where mold and mildew growth are expected to be an issue. Concrete surfaces sealed with Bone Dry Plus with antimicrobial protection will stay cleaner in between cleanings, and the antimicrobial technology is built into the sealer and continues working 24/7 throughout the life of the product.
Homebuilders and do-it-yourselfers tackling projects of these types are constantly looking for ways to improve efficiency to get the job done fast, without sacrificing product performance. The Quick Dry add-on available for Bone Dry Plus speeds up cure times. Quick Dry is shipped premixed with your sealing product when selected as an add-on and requires no change to the application process.
Non-Toxic Bone Dry Plus is the Cost-Effective Alternative to Epoxy Sealants
Besides the obvious expenses of replacing moldy, warped or otherwise damaged VCT, wood, carpet, or sheet vinyl floor coverings, resulting from damp concrete masonry, Bone Dry products cost nearly 75% less than common two-part epoxies. These same epoxies can take several days to apply and always require mechanical surface preparation. Between the added costs of material and man-hours, Bone Dry Plus is the best choice for concrete moisture mitigation.
In addition to the added benefit of antimicrobial technology, Bone Dry Plus also provides a unique vapor barrier for waterproofing concrete and dense cement masonry products. Bone Dry Plus penetrates deeply to become an integral part of the concrete, filling the voids and bonding the particles into a solid mass, creating a permanent seal.

Bone Dry Plus provides a unique vapor barrier for waterproofing concrete and dense cement masonry products. Bone Dry Plus penetrates deeply to become an integral part of the concrete, filling the voids and bonding the particles into a solid mass, creating a permanent seal.
SEALING: Bone Dry Plus seals concrete and other cement-based materials into a mass that is essentially solid, rather than porous. Its penetrating quality provides deep sealing that provides effective sealing for the life of the concrete.
BONDING: Bone Dry Plus eliminates dusting and flaking and prepares the treated surface for paints, caulking compounds, adhesives, and floor coverings, and increases the bond and life of these materials. It is coatable and compatible with any type of covering.
DENSIFYING: Bone Dry Plus makes concrete substantially harder initially. Concrete continues to harden but at a slower rate.
WATERPROOFING: Bone Dry Plus becomes an integral permanent part of the concrete by reacting with the free lime and alkali found in all concrete, thus completely waterproofing and strengthening the structure of the concrete.
CURING: Bone Dry Plus is extremely effective in all temperate climates.
COVERAGE: Approximately 1,100 square feet per 5-gallon pail, depending upon the porosity of the concrete.
PRECAUTIONS:
If our sealers become frozen in the container, thaw and agitate before use.
Do not expose aluminum, glass, and eyeglasses to our sealers as they could possibly etch the surface.
Do not apply to asphalt as our sealers could break down the petroleum base of asphalt.
Leather shoes and gloves will stiffen. Some glazed tile will be dulled.
PROTECTION:
Bone Dry Sealers are slightly corrosive to human tissue. Handle as a caustic solution. Protect skin and eyes. Avoid prolonged breathing of vapors or mist. For ultimate protection, especially in confined areas, use a NIOSH-approved respirator and wear chemical goggles or a face shield and rubber or plastic gloves. Consult the Bone Dry Penetrating Concrete Sealer Material Safety Data Sheet for other safety instructions.
FIRST AID:
IF SWALLOWED, do not induce vomiting. Drink lots of water or milk, then drink diluted vinegar, lemon juice or orange juice. Get medical attention immediately.
IN CASE OF EYE CONTACT, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention immediately.
IN CASE OF SKIN CONTACT, thoroughly rinse off immediately with fresh water. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
How to Apply
Bone Dry Plus concrete sealer is easy to apply and can be done by anyone. Before applying the sealer to your concrete driveway you must clean the surface to ensure it is free of dirt or other debris. Applying the sealer to an unclean surface will prevent the sealer from fully penetrating the concrete and creating an effective moisture barrier. You can then use a battery or pump sprayer with a wide fan tip. Apply the first coat of the sealer, it should have a wet to slightly cloudy appearance. Allow the sealer to soak into the concrete for no more than 10 minutes and apply a second coat. On large jobs, it will be helpful to section off your work area into 1,000 to 2,000 square-foot sections.
